Jones had a good freshman season, he was a little overshadowed by Zion and Rj but he did enough to be the 4th best point guard ranked in this draft class. Jones’ season numbers won’t wow you, but they don’t tell the whole story. It’s tough for a guy like Jones to get the numbers he can get behind two of the top 3 draft prospects.
Jones showed great defensive abilities this season. Averaging almost 2 steals per game. He was an on ball pest all season. His weakness is his jumpshot, he did not shoot the three ball very well. I am not sure of Jones’ reasoning for staying another year, but this doesn’t hurt him, he would not be an immediate impact guy next year if he went to the NBA. He was a starting spot, and one of the best college basketball coaches ever.
Jones might want to join him brother Tyus and win a national championship for Duke. That would cement the Jones legacy at Duke. If Jones can take a leap for this upcoming season, he could raise his draft stock and make himself more prepared for the NBA.
