It’s over. It’s finally over. The wait for where Kawhi Leonard will sign in free agency is over and he’s going to the Los Angles Clippers and he’ll be joined by former Pacers & Thunder Forward Paul George.
Late last night/early this morning the news broke that The Claw had made his decision to join the Clippers and it seems like the reason for the hold up was his heavy recruiting of George. Kawhi was reportedly heavily recruiting George to demand a trade and join him in LA for weeks now.
The Clippers sent OKC Shai Gilgeous-Alexanders, Danilo Galinari, 4 Unprotected Future Picks and a 2021 Protected 1st rounder, while also the ability to swap picks for 2023 & 2025. The Thunder lost a superstar but received 2 formidable players and a potential 7 draft picks. Not a bad haul to start the rebuild, with many also believing they will trade Russell Westbrook which will inevitably bring back a monster haul as well.
The battle for Los Angeles is on, and based on current rosters it looks like the Clippers have an early edge with the Lakers not yet fully forming their roster.
