It Seems CP3 Will Begin the Season in OKC

According to Adrian Wojnarowksi, Chris Paul trade talks are “parked”. Chris Paul is one of the most confusing stories in the NBA right now. Chris Paul is still a good basketball player, obviously not as good as he used to be. But teams don’t want him largely due to his massive contract. Paul was recently traded to Oklahoma City for Russell Westbrook and draft picks. My initial thought was that OKC is going into tank mode and trying to acquire as many picks as possible. But they can’t seem to find the right trade partner right now.

What should the Thunder do?

If I were Sam Presti, I would find any team that is willing to give up at least one first round pick and maybe some salary filler players if necessary. With OKC’s current roster, they are not anywhere near being a contender, they are not even a playoff team with or without Chris Paul. They need to get as many assets as they can and go into full rebuild mode. Most teams either can’t take on Paul’s contract, or are unwilling to. His production is not worth the price.

Presti drafted Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden. 3 MVP’s. He should get as many picks as he can and hopefully be able to draft as well as he did around 10 years ago.
